The Nikkei reported on June 1 that Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger signed an agreement with Vietnamese company Vingroup to jointly develop technologies including autonomous driving. Intel is looking to accelerate its foray into the automotive industry and expand its presence in Vietnam, its largest testing and assembly base, the report said.
Vingroup announced on May 31 that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Intel to create a range of advanced computing systems, including 5G-enabled smart city and smart building solutions, smart manufacturing processes, cloud services and AI, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) based on Mobileye technology.
In the automotive sector, the two companies will collaborate to create and deploy smart Factory iot solutions for Vingroups VinES battery manufacturing and VinFasts electric vehicle manufacturing business, according to the agreement.
